Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Overrun Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Heavy Weapons and IEDs in Kebbi
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded a major operational success in Kebbi State following a sustained offensive against members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group, leading to the recovery of heavy-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices.
The operation, which was carried out on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji area in Dandi Local Government Area, formed part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West.
According to the military, troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and retreat from the area.
Subsequent pursuit operations along the terrorists' escape routes resulted in the recovery of a cache of weapons, explosives and other logistics items left behind by the fleeing insurgents.
Items recovered from the terrorists' hideout included rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers and other personal belongings.
No casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.
Military authorities said the latest success highlights the determination of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to sustain pressure on terrorist and bandit groups operating in the region.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of operation and disrupting their activities in order to enhance the safety and security of residents across the North-West.
