Troops Neutralise Bandits, Intercept Arms Courier in Plateau State
Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN under Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A have recorded significant successes in their ongoing operations to flush out criminal elements in Plateau State.
On July 3, 2025, troops conducted a clearance operation across the rugged terrains of Tulus and Hokk communities, along the Plateau–Nasarawa State border. During the mission, the troops made contact with armed militias in Hokk, engaging them in a brief but decisive firefight that led to the neutralisation of several bandits. Others fled into nearby forests. No further contact was established as troops carried out extensive area exploitation, maintaining control through static and mobile patrols to prevent any regrouping.
In a separate operation later that evening, around 5:45 p.m., troops acting on credible intelligence intercepted a suspected arms courier in Mangar, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area. The suspect, caught transporting arms and ammunition on a motorcycle, was arrested at a snap checkpoint. Recovered items and the suspect are currently in custody as investigations continue.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting arms smuggling networks and dismantling criminal groups threatening peace and security in the region.
