POLICE NAB KIDNAPPER’S KINGPIN, NEUTRALIZE SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER IN BENUE STATE
The operatives of Benue State Police Command have apprehended a kidnapper's kingpin and gunned down a notorious armed
robber on different occasions at Zaki Biam and Taraku communities of Ukum and Gwer East LGAs, Benue State.
The information available indicates that the kidnapper was threatening one Mr. Innocent of Zaki- Biam town to pay the sum of a N5million to an account or he will be kidnapped and killed, but the victim deposited the sum of N500,000 to the said account provided by the kidnapper, yet the threat to kidnap him persists.
Afterward, the Police investigation led to the arrest of one Elijah Elisha. Whose Police uniform and military camouflage trousers were recovered from him during a search of his house which aided the suspect confession to the crime.
Similarly, a notorious robbery suspect, on the other hand, was gunned down by men of Operation Zenda JTF who were on routine patrol along Taraku – Otukpo while they ran into an armed robbery incident at Ankyoor village.
Consequently, the syndicate engaged the police team in a gun duel that cost one of the culprits his life in a hospital he was receiving treatment after he sustained bullet injuries while other gang members escaped with gunshot injuries.
Meanwhile, the Item recovered from the suspect includes; one locally made pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. an investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
