
TROOPS OF 63 BRIGADE NIGERIAN ARMY NEUTRALISE TWO KIDNAPPERS, RECOVER ARMS, AND RESCUE RELEASED KIDNAPPED GIRLS
Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South (SS) Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), in collaboration with the Keystone Anti-Kidnap Squad, have successfully rescued previously released kidnapped girls in a daring operation in Azagba, Ugwash-Uku, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Acting on credible and actionable intelligence, the troops launched an ambush operation. After the kidnappers had released the girls, the troops engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle that lasted approximately 20 minutes.
Two of the kidnappers were neutralised during the exchange, while others fled with gunshot wounds. Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five mobile phones, four school bags, a wristwatch, a phone charger, and the sum of N3.6 million. Troops have continued further exploitation operations in pursuit of the fleeing suspects.
The rescued girls, along with a male victim, are currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
Commander of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South (SS) OPDS, Brigadier General Moronfolu Shonibare, commended the troops for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication. He also urged the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Delta State and its environs.
