Intensified Military Offensive Forces Top ISWAP Commanders, Dozens of Terrorists to Surrender – Operation HADIN KAI
The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), says sustained military offensives against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have continued to yield significant gains, with several senior terrorist leaders and dozens of fighters surrendering to troops across the North-East.
According to the military, the latest breakthrough follows intensified counterterrorism operations driven by credible intelligence and coordinated ground offensives that have continued to dismantle terrorist strongholds and disrupt insurgent activities within the theatre.
The military disclosed that a fresh group of senior ISWAP commanders recently abandoned their camps and surrendered to troops due to the sustained pressure mounted by security forces. The surrendered individuals are currently in a secure facility undergoing profiling, debriefing, and other established procedures in line with operational protocols.
Operation HADIN KAI stated that the latest development underscores the effectiveness of ongoing operations, which have continued to weaken the terrorists' command structure, degrade their fighting capability, and restrict their freedom of movement across the North-East.
The military further revealed that within the past week alone, 76 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, alongside some of their family members, voluntarily surrendered to troops.
According to the Joint Task Force, the successes recorded reflect the effectiveness of its comprehensive counterterrorism strategy, which combines intelligence-led operations, precision military action, and coordinated efforts with other security partners.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until all remaining terrorist elements are either neutralised or compelled to surrender, while continuing efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North-East.
