troops rescue six kidnap victims, recover N800,000 from terrorists in Katsina
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered N800,000 allegedly taken from them by terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation took place on August 22, 2026, after troops received a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
Troops swiftly moved to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into nearby bushes.
The six victims were rescued unharmed, while the N800,000 recovered from the terrorists was returned to them alongside their vehicle in the presence of the Dandume Divisional Police Officer.
In a separate operation on August 21, troops encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara LGA. The attackers fled after troops engaged them, while a motorcycle was recovered during a subsequent search of the area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said it would continue sustained patrols and offensive operations to disrupt terrorist activities and protect communities across the North-West.
Residents were urged to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
