Troops foil cattle rustling, recover over 500 cattle in Kaduna
Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempt by suspected terrorists to rustle cattle in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation was carried out on September 8, 2026, following a distress call from residents over cattle rustling at Rugar Mande Kurmin.
Acting on the information, the troops quickly deployed to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and established blocking positions. The troops engaged the suspects from multiple directions, forcing them to retreat and abandon the rustled cattle.
More than 500 cattle were recovered during the operation and subsequently returned to their respective owners.
The military said the successful operation demonstrates the continued commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while disrupting criminal activities across its area of operations.
The operation also urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and relevant information to support efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements in the Joint Operations Area.
