TASUED MANAGEMENT DEBUNK REPORTS THAT IT INVITED THE ARMY TO ARREST SUG PRESIDENT AND OTHER STUDENTS

The Management of the Tai Solarin University of Education Ijagun,Ogun State, has debunked reports that it invited the Military to arrest the Student Union President and other students of the Institution.

Eons Intelligence reported that on Thursday, armed soldiers invaded the University, and arrested the Student Union President, Sodiq Ridwan, alongside other students.

Reacting to the incident in a press statement, the University, through its PRO, Odubela A.O, stated that it did not invite the Army or any security agency to molest the students, noting that all University Campuses are peaceful and calm.

He said that the incident occurred at a military checkpoint close to a Conoil Filling Station, on the Sagamu-Benin expressway in the evening on Thursday,28th October, 2021.

The University PRO said the Management were contacted that some of the students were harassed and consequently taken to Ilese Barracks after being arrested.

Part of the statement reads; "The Commandant of Ilese Barracks was contacted and he confirmed that his Officers were on official operation on the Sagamu-Benin expressway, assuring the University that he will look into the matter.

"It should be made clear that the University Management at no time invited any military personnel or Security agencies into the Campus as all the University Campuses are peaceful and calm.

"No Student was abducted from any of the University's Campuses, nor was any Student shot dead.

"The University Management thus appeals to Students to remain calm and desist from all forms of unlawful acts."
