POLICE KILL SUSPECT, RESCUE KIDNAPPED BABY, RECOVER ARMS, AMMUNITION IN EDO
Operatives of Edo State Police Command on Pin down neutralized 3 kidnappers in a gun duel along Benin- Auchi road in Uhunmwonde LGA of Edo state on 13 September 2022 at about 1930hrs.
Available report indicates that the Operatives received a distress call by residents of Achigbor community regarding the kidnap incident and the operative on Pin down along that axis swiftly mobilized and moved to the scene where they came to an empty compound that had been vandalized, one Elizabeth Ojo (female) was screaming that some suspected kidnappers vandalized her house and abducted her one-month-old baby into the bush.
The Operatives immediately swang into action for possible rescue of the baby. The kidnappers on sighting the Operatives threw the baby into the bush and opened fire on them. In the firefight with the Police operatives, 3 of the 6 kidnappers were neutralized.
The other three escaped while further bush combing of that general area is still ongoing by police operatives.
The baby was rescued unhurt and has been handed over to the mother,
One cut-to-size double barrel gun
One cutlass and one battle axe were confiscated from the Kidnappers.
