NAF LOSES PERSONNEL IN GUN DUEL AS SOLDIERS KILL 35 BANDITS IN ZAMFARA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has lost one Special Force personnel, Aircraftman Sunday Enwa, during a gun duel with bandits at the Maje Riverline near Yar Katsina under Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.


However, during the encounter on Sunday, January 17, soldiers killed thirty armed bandits at the area, Eons Intelligence earlier reported.


The operation was achieved when the troops of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) deployed at Kekuwuje, Kwatarkwashi and Maru, comprised mostly of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces (SF) personnel, were mobilized in response to credible intelligence on movement of armed bandits with rustled animals at the area heading towards Kekuwuje-Yar Kastina Road.

Subsequently, the gallant soldiers made contact with the armed bandits along the Yar Katsina Road and overpowered them with superior firepower in the ensuing gun battle. 


The troops pursued the bandits and cornered them at the Maje Riverline, killing 30 of them. Regrettably, Aircraftman Sunday Enwa, who fought gallantly during the encounter, lost his life while 3 others sustained gunshot wounds during the operation.


Similarly, on the same day, troops deployed at Maradun killed five armed bandits at Janbako village in Maradun LGA of Zamfara State. 


The soldiers received information of reprisal attack by armed bandits at the area, then swiftly mobilized to the area to forestall the reprisal attack.


Eons Intelligence earlier reported that one of the Fulani bandits was killed by the community people known as Yankaze at Maradun Market.


The troops were ambushed around Janbako village where firefight ensued. The gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits and killed 5 of them, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
