BENUE INDEX COVID-19 PATIENT DISCHARGED FROM ISOLATION CENTRE

The index Coronavirus case in Benue State, Mrs. Susan Idoko-Okpe, has been discharged.

The 58-year-old Nigerian-British citizen had challenged the result of the test declaring her a COVID-19 patient.

Idoko-Okpe arrived in Nigeria from the UK on March 22nd.

She posted a video on social media protesting that the COVID-19 test result which led to her being taken to the Isolation Centre in Makurdi on March 27th, and subsequently to the National Hospital in Abuja, did not belong to her.

She was declared COVID-19 free and was discharged on Wednesday evening.

Mrs Idoko-Okpe said she later called the Chief Medical Director, who told her that she was never “a prisoner” and that she was free to go.

Although she expressed her happiness over her release, Mrs Idoko-Okpe said would not disclose her current location yet.

“God has been good to me. I went through a lot,” she told pressmen in Abuja.
