Anambra police recover two locally made pistols, cult-branded caps from abandoned motorcycle
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command has recovered two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription linked to the Vikings Confraternity after suspected criminals abandoned a motorcycle during a police pursuit in Awka North Local Government Area.
The recovery was made on the afternoon of 13 August 2026 by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) during a routine patrol around the Isuaniocha Bridge.
According to the Command, officers observed two young men riding a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number. The riders reportedly made a sudden and reckless turn after sighting the police patrol team, prompting the operatives to pursue them.
During the chase, the two suspects reportedly fell from the motorcycle and abandoned it along with a bag and two slippers before escaping into a nearby bush.
A subsequent search of the abandoned bag led to the discovery of two fabricated pistols and three caps bearing an inscription associated with the Vikings Confraternity.
Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects and establish their alleged affiliations as well as how they came into possession of the firearms and other recovered items.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained patrols, intelligence-led operations and proactive policing to prevent criminal activities and protect residents across the state.
He also directed operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene.
