Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Benue Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims during an intelligence-led operation in Kyado, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The rescue, carried out in the early hours of April 15, 2026, at about 03:50 a.m., led to the safe recovery of Mr. Sylvester Micheal Ebuka and Mrs. Chidinma Chikwentu. Both victims were abducted in separate incidents earlier in the month—Mr. Ebuka on April 2 and Mrs. Chikwentu on April 6.

Military authorities said the operation followed sustained pressure on suspected criminal hideouts in the area. Troops conducted aggressive patrols and clearance operations, forcing the abductors to flee and abandon the victims, who were rescued without injuries.

The Force Commander, Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, noting that the success highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations.

He reassured residents of the military’s commitment to sustaining operations aimed at eliminating criminal threats, while urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
