
Troops Raid Illegal Arms Factory in Plateau, Arrest Suspect and Recover Weapons
Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have uncovered and dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The operation, conducted on September 17, 2025, followed actionable intelligence. During the raid, one weapon fabricator was arrested, while others escaped before troops arrived at the facility.
A thorough search of the factory led to the recovery of a cache of weapons and military hardware, including:
Twelve assorted fabricated weapons
One fabricated pistol
Nineteen rounds of PKT ammunition
Twelve cartridges
Ten rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition
Ten rounds of 9mm ammunition
Four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition
One round of QJC ammunition
One smoke grenade
Two fragmental jackets
One Motorola handheld radio
One jack knife
A bucket containing assorted medicines
The Nigerian Army confirmed that the arrested suspect and recovered items are in custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
In a statement, the 3 Division/JTF OPEP urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to aid efforts in curbing the proliferation of illicit arms within the Joint Operations Area.
