The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man identified as Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele ‘M’, described by the Command as the last identified member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly led by a suspect known as “Pincode.”
Oyelu was arrested in the early hours of September 23, 2026, by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department following sustained intelligence gathering and an extensive investigation into a 2023 kidnapping operation that reportedly resulted in the death of the victim.
According to the Police Command, Oyelu was allegedly an active member of the gang involved in the operation. His arrest followed continued efforts by investigators to identify and apprehend all individuals suspected of involvement in the crime.
The Command said Oyelu will be handed over to the Correctional Centre after the conclusion of the investigative process. Pincode and four other suspects linked to the case are already in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the determination of the court.
The Police said the latest arrest marks a significant development in the investigation and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the investigating officers for their persistence, dedication and intelligence-led approach.
He assured residents of the state that the Command would continue to pursue suspected criminals within and outside Anambra until they are brought before the law.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public to provide the Police with timely and credible information, stressing that maintaining security requires the cooperation of both security agencies and the community.
