TWITTER LAWSUIT: ADAMU GARBA, LAWYER FAIL TO APPEAR IN COURT

A former Presidential candidate, Adamu Garba and his lawyer have failed to appear in court over the lawsuit against Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey.


Recall Adamu Garba, instituted a $1 billion lawsuit against Twitter and its founder Jack Dorsey at the Federal High Court Abuja, for supporting the #EndSARS protests.


The motion on notice was brought pursuant to order II Rules 1, 2, 3 of the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009 and Sections 34(1), 35(1) and 41(1), and 43 of the 1999 Constitution.

However, Nigerian lawyer, Temitope Akinyode who volunteered to represent the Dorsey challenged Garba’s lawsuit by filing a counter-suit adding that the freedom of expression needs to be protected.


Giving an update on the petition, Akinyode on Wednesday, November 25 said neither Adamu Garba nor his lawyers appear in court, adding that the suit has been adjourned to April 2021


“BREAKING: I was at the Federal High Court today to defend Adamu Garba'a lawsuit against @jack and @Twitter. However, @adamugarba & his lawyers failed to show up in Court without given reasons & the Court has now adjourned case to 22nd April, 2021,” Akinyode said. 


Garba is yet to state reasons for his absence at today’s proceedings.
