Troops Raid Suspected IPOB/ESN Hideouts in Delta, Arrest 13 Suspects

Troops of 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South (Operation Delta Safe) have conducted a series of intelligence-led raids on suspected hideouts of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Delta State.

The operations, carried out between July 26 and August 1, 2025, targeted locations at Abacha Camp and Fulani Camp areas of Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area. Thirteen individuals were apprehended during the raids and handed over to the 63 Military Intelligence Regiment (MIR) for profiling.

Following investigations, four of the suspects—Hossanah John, Obassey Maduabichi, Nwamini Nduka, and Aguyi Uchenna—were confirmed to be IPOB/ESN collaborators. The remaining nine suspects, found to have no links with the outlawed group, will be released to their families under sureties.

The confirmed suspects will be transferred to appropriate authorities for further action.

Commander of 63 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, commended the troops for their efforts and reiterated the Army’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across Delta State.
