Troops on High Alert as Operation HADIN KAI Warns of Possible Eid Attacks

The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has assured residents of the North-East region of adequate security ahead of the 2026 Eid El Kabir celebrations, while urging the public to remain vigilant during the festive period.

In a statement issued on Monday, May 25, 2026, by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military extended Eid greetings to Muslim faithful and disclosed that extensive security measures had already been activated across the theatre to ensure peaceful celebrations.

According to the statement, intelligence reports indicate that remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists may attempt isolated attacks during the festivities, particularly through the use of suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices targeting crowded civilian locations.

The military, however, assured residents that proactive measures had been put in place to counter any potential threat.

Operation HADIN KAI stated that troops had been strategically deployed to vulnerable and critical locations across the North-East, while surveillance operations, patrols, and intelligence activities had also been intensified in collaboration with other security agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local vigilance groups.

The command advised residents to remain security conscious throughout the celebration period by avoiding unnecessary movement, especially at night and in isolated areas with limited security presence.

Residents were also urged to remain alert in crowded locations such as markets, prayer grounds, motor parks, and banking halls, while promptly reporting suspicious persons, unattended objects, or unusual activities to security agencies.

The military further appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel during patrols and screening exercises and to avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

Operation HADIN KAI also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organisations, and community stakeholders to support ongoing security efforts by encouraging residents to share credible intelligence with authorities.

The command reaffirmed that troops across the North-East remain fully prepared and committed to denying terrorists freedom of operation during the Eid festivities and beyond.

The statement concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and rewarding Eid El Kabir celebratio
