Troops Neutralise Kidnapper, Arrest Suspected Informants in Plateau

Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP), under Operation PEACE SHIELD, have neutralised a suspected kidnapper and arrested three alleged informants during a security operation in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation followed actionable intelligence received on December 15, 2025, regarding a kidnapping attempt in the Dong community of Jos North. Troops swiftly responded to the report and engaged the assailants on arrival, forcing them to abandon their initial plan and flee the area.

While escaping, the suspects reportedly moved into a nearby community where they abducted four persons. Troops immediately launched a pursuit, leading to a gun battle with the criminals. During the encounter, one of the kidnappers was neutralised.

A search of the scene resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the neutralised suspect. In addition, three individuals believed to be providing intelligence and logistical support to the kidnappers were arrested.

Security forces have commenced intensive operations to rescue the abducted victims and track down other members of the criminal gang involved in the incident.

The Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Plateau State and the wider Joint Operations Area, assuring residents that troops remain alert, motivated, and determined to decisively combat all forms of criminal activity.
