Troops Neutralise Gunmen in Plateau Ambush, Recover Arms in Barkin Ladi Operation
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised two armed gunmen during a coordinated ambush operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, conducted on the evening of April 21, 2026, at about 7:49pm near Doruwa Babuje in the Marit general area, followed credible intelligence on the movement of criminal elements known for violent attacks, sexual assault, and armed robbery within surrounding communities.
According to military sources, troops laid in wait and successfully ambushed the suspects upon sighting them. In the ensuing exchange of fire, two gunmen were killed, while others escaped into nearby bushes under the cover of darkness.
A search of the area led to the recovery of one locally fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife, and a mobile phone.
Troops have since maintained a strong presence across Marit and Lajam villages, with ongoing efforts to track and apprehend fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.
Military authorities reaffirmed that Operation ENDURING PEACE remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
