Troops arrest terrorist collaborators, destroy enclaves in Kaduna, Katsina
Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, recovered weapons and ammunition, and destroyed terrorist enclaves during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina states.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 on August 27 arrested a suspected collaborator found carrying two locally fabricated firearms and 13 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag. The suspect reportedly provided information that led to the arrest of two additional persons allegedly linked to the movement of the weapons.
All three suspects and the recovered items are currently undergoing investigation.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2, supported by other security agencies, conducted clearance operations around Maharba and Karaduwa in Matazu LGA on August 28, destroying several structures reportedly used as terrorist enclaves.
Troops also raided an enclave linked to suspected terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, whose group has reportedly carried out attacks in Matazu and Musawa LGAs. The suspected leader reportedly escaped as troops advanced, while an RPG-7 tube, motorcycle, mobile phones and other items were recovered from the area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the operations form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist networks, cut off their logistics and deny them safe havens across the North West.
