Terrorists Repelled as Troops, Air Support Secure Ngoshe Military Position

Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a military position in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, restoring control of the base after a swift counter-offensive.

The attack occurred on 3 March 2026 when suspected terrorists launched an assault on the location occupied by Operation HADIN KAI troops. In response, reinforcement teams from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and the 151 Battalion were immediately deployed to support the troops at the frontline.

During the reinforcement movement, the leading Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which damaged two of its tyres. Despite the incident, the advancing troops continued their movement towards the attacked location.

A special reinforcement team led by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, later arrived at the scene and coordinated a counter-attack that successfully forced the terrorists to withdraw from the area.

During the pursuit and exchange of fire, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) barrel abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also provided heavy air support during the operation, reportedly neutralising several terrorists.

Following the successful reoccupation of the position and clearance of the surrounding area, Brigadier General Abdullahi commended the troops for their bravery and resilience, urging them to sustain aggressive operations to further weaken terrorist elements operating within the region.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of movement while continuing offensive operations aimed at restoring lasting peace, security, and stability across the North-East.

The military high command also praised the troops for their gallantry and urged them to maintain the current operational momentum.
