TENSION AS SECURITY OPERATIVES ATTEMPT TO ARREST SUNDAY IGBOHO ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY (VIDEO)

There is heightened tension along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday as security operatives attempted to arrest Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Eons Intelligence gathered that Igboho was on his way to Lagos to visit Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a Yoruba leader and an Elder stateman.

Femi Fani Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation and ally of Igboho confirmed the incident via his Twitter handle.

He said "I just spoke to my brother Sunday Igboho. He told me there was a violent attempt to arrest him this afternoon by a joint team of soldiers, DSS operatives & policemen numbering about 40 on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway whilst he was on his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.

"I condemn this attempt to ambush& abduct him. It is not only reckless but also very dangerous. If the security agencies want to see him all they need to do is to invite him to their office. I am not aware of any crime that he has committed & I urge restraint on all sides.

"Let me also send a warning to the FG that Sunday Igboho is a hero to millions of Yorubas & either killing him or detaining him unlawfully would be the biggest mistake they could make. Building bridges, dialogue& peace is better than violence & war.A word is enough for the wise."

Igboho has been in the news lately over his fight against the killing and abduction of the Yorubas in the South Western part of the country.

Recall that Sunday Igboho had issued a 7-day ultimatum to killer herdsmen, following a series of kidnappings and killings allegedly perpetrated by herders operating in the southwest forest reserves.

Advisory

Security operatives should ensure that normalcy and calm is restored in the area to avoid bloody clash.
