Police Dismantle Kidnapping Syndicate, Recover AK-47, Ammunition and Livestock in FCT–Nasarawa Operation

The Nigeria Police Force has dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate linked to a series of abductions and killings along communities bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State, following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

According to the Force, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out operations between June 24 and 26, 2026, leading to the arrest of two suspected members of the criminal network in Gbagalape, the FCT, Mararaba in Nasarawa State, and Abuja.

The suspects, identified as Buhari Adamu, 25, and Abubakar Saidu, 28, are alleged to have played key roles in several violent attacks, kidnappings, and murders across the FCT–Nasarawa axis.

Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to the deadly attack on Gbagalape Community on May 16, 2026, during which several residents were abducted, others were killed, and some sustained gunshot injuries. Police also alleged that multiple victims were later murdered after ransom demands had been made.

Following the arrests, security operatives raided the gang's hideout at Gbagalape Hills, where they recovered one AK-47 rifle, 22 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 14 cows, and three sheep believed to be proceeds of criminal activities.

The Nigeria Police Force said the suspects are cooperating with investigators by providing useful information, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reaffirmed the Force's commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations against violent criminal groups nationwide. He commended the FID-STS operatives for their professionalism and resilience and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and the arrest of criminal suspects.
