Osun police invite APC senator Fadahunsi over alleged ‘kill Accord’ comment
The Osun State Police Command has invited Senator Francis Fadahunsi for questioning over an alleged statement in which he reportedly urged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the Accord Party ahead of the state governorship election.
The invitation comes days before the election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, following the circulation of a video on social media purportedly showing Fadahunsi making the remarks during an APC campaign event in Ilesa on Tuesday.
In the video, the Osun East senator, who was reportedly speaking in Yoruba, allegedly made comments interpreted as threatening towards members and supporters of the rival Accord Party.
A letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner of Police for Elections in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, directed Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12.
The police said the invitation was based on information alleging that the senator made statements considered threatening, inciting and intimidating during the campaign. The Command also noted that the alleged remarks had been widely circulated across electronic and social media platforms.
Fadahunsi has denied the allegation, maintaining that his remarks were taken out of context. He has also claimed that the video being circulated was generated using artificial intelligence.
The police are expected to question the senator as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged statement ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
