One Suspected Bandit Shot, Resident Injured as Police Repel Cattle Rustlers in Katsina

A suspected bandit was reportedly shot and a resident sustained injuries after security operatives foiled a cattle rustling attack in Wakaji village, Dutsin-Ma, on Monday night.


The attackers, believed to be bandits, invaded the community in an apparent attempt to steal livestock. Personnel of the Dutsin-Ma Police Division responded promptly, engaging the assailants in a gun battle.


During the exchange, several cattle fled into surrounding bushes, while the fleeing suspects reportedly escaped with 10 cattle.


One suspected bandit was reportedly hit by gunfire during the confrontation. A resident also sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was rushed to the General Hospital in Dutsin-Ma, where the victim was stabilized and is currently receiving medical treatment.


Security personnel are expected to continue efforts to recover the stolen cattle and track down the fleeing suspects.
