NDLEA RAIDS DRUG JOINTS IN LAGOS, ABUJA, OTHERS, NABS FAKE SOLDIER, POLICE OFFICER

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) have arrested a suspected fake soldier, one suspected fake Police officer and one youth corp member, among 663 other drug offenders, in separate raids of drugs joint in Lagos, Abuja, Benue and others. 


The Agency said its men in Lagos raided the dreaded Akala drug haven in Mushin on Friday, 15th October with a combined team of 70 NDLEA operatives and 30 soldiers in a joint operation code named: "Operation Still Waters."


It said no less that 27 suspects were arrested. Drugs such as Cocaine, Heroin, Tramadol, Rohypnol and Cannabis, with a cumulative weight of 2,463.876 Kg were seized in that operation, the Agency stated.


Operatives also raided drug joints in Ojo and Maryland areas of the State the previous day, where six persons were arrested and different quantities of drugs seized. 


Another raid of Alhaji Lasisi street, Idioro, Mushin as well as Okota in Oshodi-Isolo area of the State during which 12 suspects were arrested and over 165kg of assorted illicit drugs recovered. 


Operatives in Ogun State, on Friday 15th, October intercepted one Williams Esuabom along Ore- Shagamu expressway with 562.5kg of Cannabis concealed in a Sienna bus en route a yet to be ascertained destination. 


In Benue State, narcotic officers in a joint operation with soldiers raided Lafia park where six suspects including a youth corps member, one Paul Ndubuisi was arrested with different quantities of drugs. 


Men of the Agency had earlier arrested a suspected fake soldier, Abel John, along Apir- Makurdi-Aliade road with 3.5kg Cannabis on Wednesday 13th of October.


In Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, a suspected drug trafficker, Joshua Yusuf, who disguised as an Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Kano State Police Command was arrested along Gwagwalada expressway, in possession of 45.5kg of Cannabis.


In Kwara State, operatives of the Command arrested three suspects during raids in Dabba and Luku village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The operatives recovered 64kg of hard drugs.


In Ekiti State, NDLEA operatives raided the forest reserve along Uso Road, Ise-Orun LGA, in a week long continuous exercise from Tuesday to Sunday, 17th October. 


"We destroyed over 150,000 kilograms of cannabis being harvested on 40 hectares of land during an operation that lasted more than three days. In raids across other States in the country, no fewer than 615 suspects were arrested and illicit drugs with a total weight of 3394.2031 kilograms recovered."


Brig. Gen. M.B Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA commending the officers and men of the Lagos state Command and their counterparts in Benue, FCT, Ogun, Ekiti and other parts of the country for their resilience and commitment to the war against illicit drugs in the country.


He also charged them not to rest on their oars, as the war is far from won. He thanked all stake holders for their co-operation and said that the Agency will continue to partner with all, especially the armed forces, in a bid to reach its goals.
