In a recent development, troops of Sector 3 (5 Brigade) Nigeria conducted a successful clearance operation on February 25, 2024. Responding to intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists near Alayi Bulanti in the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State, troops were deployed from their base in Damasak. Undertaking a fighting patrol, the troops encountered the terrorist elements.

Upon contact, the troops engaged the insurgents with decisive force, effectively subduing them. As a result of their swift action, terrorist weaponry was seized, including 2 AK-47 rifles, 5 magazines, and a total of 73 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition.

The operation underscores the continued dedication of the MNJTF and Nigerian forces in combating terrorism in the region. Such operations are vital in ensuring the safety and security of communities affected by terrorist activities.

The MNJTF reiterates its commitment to working in collaboration with regional partners to neutralize the threat of terrorism and restore peace to the Lake Chad Basin region.
