MANGU PLATEAU CRISIS: PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT URGES INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGED TROOP BIAS

In the aftermath of the tragic events in Mangu Local Government Area, where 30 lives were lost, the Plateau State Government has formally requested military authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into allegations of bias against troops deployed in the area.

Musa Ashoms, the Plateau State Commissioner for Information, underscored the significance of a comprehensive inquiry during a recent interview. He emphasized the need to address concerns about potential partiality among the troops and called for a transparent investigation process.

Amidst the call for scrutiny, Ashoms also issued an appeal to the residents of the state, urging them to prioritize peace and unity in the wake of the crisis.

This plea for investigation follows serious accusations leveled by the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Director of Public Affairs for the Mwaghavul Development Association. They suggested that the military might have inadvertently aided the assailants during the violent incident. The allegations have sparked questions regarding the troops' apparent failure to prevent the tragic loss of lives, leading to widespread calls for their withdrawal from the crisis-stricken area. The state government's call for a formal investigation reflects its commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice in the aftermath of this distressing incident.
