Lagos Police Withdraw Taskforce from Traffic Enforcement Duties
The Lagos State Police Command has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) from all traffic control and enforcement activities across the state.
The directive, issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, is aimed at improving professionalism, accountability, and efficiency in traffic management operations.
Authorities clarified that while the unit will no longer handle traffic-related duties, its other operational responsibilities remain unaffected.
The Command also noted that multiple task forces operate within Lagos State, advising residents and motorists to verify the identity of personnel before making claims or allegations, especially regarding traffic enforcement.
Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order, urging the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with legitimate security agencies.
