JOINT OPERATION: ARMY, DSS BUST GUN-RUNNING SYNDICATE IN TARABA, SEIZE ARMS CACHE

In a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested a suspected notorious arms dealer and recovered a cache of ammunition in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib from Belango village in Karim Lamido LGA, was intercepted near the Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari. Security forces recovered 362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one round of 7.62mm NATO, N842,100 in cash, a black Jing Cheng motorcycle, two mobile phones (Redmi and itel), two silver rings, and a First Bank ATM card.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Shuaib is linked to a larger gun-running network active within the region. He is currently in custody and reportedly assisting with further investigations.

Commending the security personnel, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, lauded the synergy between the Nigerian Army and DSS in curbing arms trafficking. He reaffirmed the commitment of security forces to flushing out criminal elements and restoring lasting peace to Taraba State and its environs.

The military further urged residents to support ongoing security operations by providing timely and credible intelligence.
