Former Jigawa LG Chairman, ADC House of Reps Aspirant Killed After Abuja–Kaduna Highway Abduction
Former Chairman of Guri Local Government Area in Jigawa State and House of Representatives aspirant under the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Anas Adamu Laushi, has reportedly been killed by suspected armed men after being abducted along the Abuja–Kaduna highway.
Laushi was said to have been kidnapped alongside Hon. Aliyu Tukur Gantsa while travelling on the notorious highway, which has witnessed repeated incidents of abduction and attacks targeting commuters.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, the victims were intercepted by suspected criminal elements operating along the route.
Report further disclosed that a ransom of N75 million was allegedly paid in efforts to secure the release of Hon. Laushi from captivity. However, despite the payment, he was reportedly killed by the abductors.
The killing has triggered fresh concerns over the persistent insecurity and recurring kidnapping incidents along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, despite ongoing security operations in the area.
