EFCC ARRESTS CHINESE NATIONAL FOR ALLEGED ILLEGAL MINING IN ILORIN

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a 29-year-old Chinese expatriate, Gang Deng, for alleged illegal mining in Ilorin, Kwara State.


EFCC in its efforts to curb illegal mining, arrested Deng on Friday night, September 9, 2022, in Ilorin and was found to be in possession of crude oil materials without authority.


The suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations on the matter are concluded.


Last month, 13 illegal miners were apprehended in Kakafu, Pategi Local Government Area of Kwara State, by the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Security Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
