
CDS Attends North Central Peace Summit, Launch of Presidential Community Engagement Initiative in Jos
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR), on Wednesday, 5 June 2025, attended the official launch of the Presidential Community Engagement Peace Initiative (PCEPI) and the North Central Peace Summit held in Jos, Plateau State.
The event, hosted at Crispan Suites and Event Centre, was organised by the Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Dr. (Mrs.) Abiodun Essiet. According to the organiser, the summit represents an innovative peace-building network designed to drive the national peace agenda and promote social cohesion across the North Central region. The initiative also seeks to establish community-based peace groups in every ward across the region.
General Musa featured in the “Fireside Chat” segment, which focused on pressing security issues affecting the North Central zone. The session, moderated by Dr. Essiet, offered an opportunity for the CDS to address key concerns and present strategic solutions. He emphasized the importance of inclusive engagement, intelligence-driven operations, and community cooperation as vital tools for promoting peaceful coexistence and boosting socio-economic development in the region.
Accompanying the CDS were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General E.F. Oyinlola, along with Principal Staff Officers from the Defence Headquarters.
The summit marked a significant step toward strengthening civil-military relations and enhancing grassroots participation in peacebuilding efforts across the North Central.
