BRT RELEASES NEW SITTING ARRANGEMENTS AS LAGOS RELAXES LOCKDOWN

Following the Lagos state government’s guidelines for safe transportation in the state during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Managing Director of Primero Transport Services Ltd., the operator of Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Mr Fola Tinubu, has revealed that from Monday, May 4, BRT buses will only be carrying 20 commuters with face masks per trip.

This is in line with the Lagos state government’s order that all commercial buses must not exceed 60 percent of their capacity and physical distancing must be obeyed.

“We are going to carry only 20 passengers per bus. The 21st person on the bus will be the driver starting from Monday.

“We will space them zigzaggy. We don’t want anybody to sit next to each other,” Mr Tinubu said.

Commuters, however, will have to pay a little extra for short-distance trips as BRT will only be selling long-distance tickets that range from N200 to N300.

“We want to concentrate on the buses on the long-distance since we can only carry 20 people. We will not sell a ticket for a short distance at all.”

“We will only be doing long distance. We will only be selling N200, N250 and N300 tickets. So, anybody that wants to do short distance will have to pay for the long-distance.” the MD said.

According to Tinubu, all the passengers must wear masks and sanitise their hands before they will be allowed to board buses.
