Boko Haram plans fresh attacks in Adamawa, Borno as DSS warns of targeted abductions
The Department of State Services (DSS) has alerted security agencies over intelligence indicating that Boko Haram terrorists are planning major operations in parts of Adamawa and Borno States.
The intelligence communication, dated July 27, 2026, was reportedly addressed to the Brigade Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Yola, Adamawa State.
According to the alert, the planned operations are expected to take place around Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, following the reported collapse of a ceasefire arrangement between the insurgents and the two state governments.
The DSS stated that the terrorists are planning coordinated attacks targeting government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders and residents in the affected communities.
The report also identified the district head of Michika and his son as possible targets of the planned abduction campaign.
The security agency further revealed that the insurgents had already deployed surveillance teams as part of preparations for the planned operations.
Following the threat, the DSS advised troops, forest guards and local security volunteers to intensify security measures across the affected areas to prevent possible attacks.
The intelligence report was forwarded to the Nigerian Army for necessary action amid renewed concerns over Boko Haram activities in parts of the North-East.
