Bandit Kingpins Surrender Arms, Release 16 Kidnapped Victims in Katsina State

In a significant step toward restoring peace in the North-West region, several notorious bandit kingpins operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State have voluntarily surrendered their arms and released 16 kidnapped persons.

The surrender, which took place on June 14, 2025, is part of the ongoing arms disengagement initiative spearheaded by the leadership of Operation Fasan Yamma in collaboration with local stakeholders. Among the repentant terrorists are individuals identified as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black.

The group turned in various weapons and expressed their commitment to renounce banditry and embrace peaceful coexistence. As a goodwill gesture, they released 16 victims from captivity, comprising seven women and nine children. Authorities have since handed over the freed individuals to the appropriate local government officials.

The repentant group also pledged to release the remaining captives in their custody by June 15, 2025.

Military sources confirm that the surrendered weapons have been secured, and security forces remain actively deployed in the area to ensure continued peace and prevent any resurgence of criminal activities.

This development marks a hopeful milestone in the region’s ongoing quest for security and stability.
