Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have dealt a heavy blow to Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, killing eight terrorists in a fierce encounter along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route (MSR).

The incident occurred in the early hours of 15 September 2025, when troops ambushed the insurgents near Garin Giwa. The terrorists, who attempted to disrupt military operations in the axis, were repelled by superior firepower, leading to the elimination of eight fighters, including two Munzirs and one Qaid.

The identified casualties include Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, another unnamed Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid of Tumbun Mota. Several other fighters reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

In the aftermath of the clash, troops recovered 14 motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists, significantly disrupting ISWAP’s mobility and logistics.

The Theatre Command commended the troops for their gallantry and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive counter-terrorism operations aimed at restoring lasting peace to the North East.
