Troops Foil Terrorists’ Attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori, Neutralize Scores, Recover Arms
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully foiled coordinated attacks by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on Buratai in Biu Local Government Area and Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State. The twin offensives were repelled through a combined effort by ground forces and the Air Component of OPHK.
The attempted infiltration of Buratai occurred in the early hours of Thursday, 5 June 2025, as terrorists sought to penetrate troop locations from multiple directions. Alert troops swiftly engaged the assailants with heavy gunfire, while the Air Component provided close air support. Several insurgents were neutralized, and a large cache of assorted arms and ammunition was recovered. Troops are currently exploiting the general area to consolidate on the success.
Similarly, troops stationed at Mallam Fatori repelled another attack launched from multiple fronts. The soldiers, supported by air platforms from the Air Component Command, responded with superior firepower. After an extended firefight, the terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray. Pursuit operations led to the neutralization of numerous insurgents, with others escaping with gunshot wounds.
Preliminary assessments confirmed the recovery of several AK-47 rifles, general-purpose machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and other terrorist equipment. Exploitation of the area continues, supported by aerial surveillance and strikes from the Nigerian Army’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Command and the Air Component.
The coordinated effort underscores Operation HADIN KAI’s resolve to deny terrorists freedom of action and restore peace and stability in the North East.
