Operation Whirl Stroke Dismantles Terrorist Enclave in Benue, Neutralizes One Fighter and Recovers Weapons
Troops of Sector 1 under Operation WHIRL STROKE have successfully struck a terrorist enclave in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State, neutralizing one terrorist and recovering a range of weapons. The operation, which took place on 9 February 2026, followed credible intelligence on terrorist activity in Kumeh Village.
Upon reaching the area, the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, forcing many to flee. One terrorist was neutralized, and a thorough search of the location led to the recovery of significant weapons, including a G3 rifle, AK-47 rifle magazine, and several rounds of ammunition, as well as a camouflage vest and a vehicular radio.
The operation was hailed as a major success by Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander of Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, who commended the troops for their professionalism and bravery. He also expressed gratitude to the local community for providing critical intelligence that enabled the swift and effective response.
This operation reinforces Operation WHIRL STROKE’s ongoing commitment to neutralizing terrorist networks and restoring peace in the region.
