Operation WHIRL STROKE Arrests Three, Seizes Weapons in Benue Offensive

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have arrested three suspected criminals and recovered weapons and ammunition during ongoing pre-wet season clearance operations in Benue State.

The operation, carried out on 26 March 2026 by troops of the COAS Intervention Battalion XI, followed credible intelligence on the presence of suspected terrorists within the Agasha general area. Troops advanced to the location and cordoned off the area, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as Sule Ibrahim and Salmanu Risko, both from Nasarawa State, and Abdulkareem Haruna from Jos.

Items recovered during the operation include one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, a cutlass, sachets of alcohol, and assorted charms.

The suspects are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary investigation, with plans for prosecution by relevant authorities.

Military authorities stated that troops will continue to sustain aggressive operations to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and enhance security, particularly as communities prepare for the farming season.

The Force Commander, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication to safeguarding lives and property across the Joint Operations Area.
