Operation Hadin Kai Troops Thwart Terrorist Attack, Neutralize Insurgents, Rescue Abducted Children
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully thwarted a terrorist attack, neutralized insurgents, and rescued abducted children in separate operations on 20–21 February 2026.
In a significant engagement, troops from Sector 1 made contact with suspected JAS/ISWAP terrorists near Sabsawa village in Borno State. The troops responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee. Five terrorists were neutralized during the operation.
Meanwhile, Sector 1 troops stationed at Ngurosoye, Bama LGA, rescued three children—Abba Abba (12), Fatima Abba (8), and Aisha Abba (6)—during a perimeter patrol. Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were abducted two months ago by suspected terrorists along the Gubio axis and moved to Bula-Daloye. The children have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further action.
Additionally, an 18-year-old terrorist suspect, Abubakar Abubakar, surrendered to troops in Geidam, Yobe State, and is now in custody for profiling.
Troops across other OPHK sectors continued offensive operations, collaborating with vigilantes and hunters to deny terrorists freedom of movement. The military high command has commended the troops for their sustained morale and commitment to neutralizing terrorist elements, reaffirming their resolve to maintain pressure until lasting peace is restored in the region.
