Operation Fansan Yamma troops neutralize terrorists, recover weapons in Zamfara

Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded significant gains in ongoing offensive operations against terrorist groups in Zamfara State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering firearms, ammunition and motorcycles.

The operation was conducted on 14 August 2026 by troops of Sector 2 during a clearance operation in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area.

The troops encountered terrorists around Garin Kaso and engaged them in a fierce firefight. Two terrorists were confirmed neutralised during the initial encounter, while the troops recovered two rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of ammunition and two motorcycles.

As the operation continued, another group of terrorists attempted to ambush the troops from concealed positions. The soldiers responded swiftly, fought their way through the ambush and inflicted additional casualties on the attackers.

The surviving terrorists reportedly fled the area as the troops maintained pressure on the group.

The operation forms part of the ongoing offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist networks, recover weapons and deny criminal elements freedom of movement across the North-West.

Further details on the reported interception of a courier carrying explosive materials to terrorist elements were not provided in the supplied report.
