“GHOST MONDAY”: IPOB URGED TO SHEATH THEIR SWORD BY VON DG



The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu has urged members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist from their lockdown threat in the South-East Region every Monday.


Mr. Okechukwu made this call to the proscribed group in his statement on Sunday in Enugu.


Recall that Emma Powerful, IPOB’s spokesperson had in a statement on Friday stated the commencement of a weekly lockdown every Monday which was to be tagged: “Ghost Monday.”


According to the IPOB spokesperson, “Ghost Monday,” which is to continue until the release of Nnamdi Kanu would affect all economic activities including schools and marketplaces.


The Director-General (VON) however encouraged them to focus on the infrastructural development in the South East Region by the current dispensation.

“Let me for the umpteenth time appeal to my brothers in IPOB to sheath their sword, for to lockdown the South-East is simply waging atrocious war against Ndigbo”, Mr. Okechukwu said.
