Police Confirm Abduction of Three FULafia Students, Launch Rescue Operation in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) from an off-campus residence near the university’s temporary campus in Akunza, Lafia.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, said police received a distress call at about 9:21 p.m. after armed men reportedly stormed the students’ hostel along Awe Road and forced their way into the apartment.
Nansel explained that the residence is located in a secluded area close to a bush path leading towards Awe town, adding that the location posed security concerns due to its proximity to the bush and limited access control.
He disclosed that one of the abducted students has been rescued, while security operatives have intensified efforts to locate and rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the kidnappers.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered the deployment of tactical teams and patrol units to conduct a coordinated search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding areas.
The police command assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the remaining students and bring the perpetrators to justice.
