NAF Intensifies Air Offensive in North-West, Hits Terrorist Hideouts and Neutralises Suspects

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, has sustained its aerial offensive against terrorists and armed bandits in the North-West, carrying out precision strikes and conducting extensive intelligence and surveillance missions in support of ongoing ground operations.

According to the Air Force, the coordinated operations, which took place on June 18 and 19, 2026, targeted identified criminal enclaves and formed part of efforts to deny terrorist groups freedom of action across the theatre.

Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft carried out successful strikes on a confirmed terrorist hideout within the Joint Operations Area, disrupting the activities of the armed groups and degrading their operational capabilities.

In a separate intelligence-driven mission around Kidandan, air assets reportedly engaged and neutralised terrorists after positively identifying their movement within the area.

Subsequent aerial reconnaissance missions over Fatika and Sabuwa indicated no further terrorist presence, while surveillance flights continued to provide support for troops conducting operations on the ground.

The Nigerian Air Force said the sustained missions highlight its commitment to strengthening security and supporting joint military efforts aimed at restoring peace across the region.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reiterated the importance of close coordination between air and ground forces, noting that the effectiveness of air power is maximised when integrated with surface operations.

He stressed that the Air Force would continue to employ intelligence-led operations in collaboration with ground troops to neutralise terrorist and bandit networks, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability in the North-West.

The NAF further reaffirmed its determination to maintain the current operational tempo until criminal groups operating within the region are decisively dismantled.
