Police Nab Four Suspected Bandits in Kaduna, Recover AK-47 Rifles and Ammunition

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of weapons during an intelligence-led operation in Kaduna State.


Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) carried out the operation on March 7, 2026, leading to the arrest of Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.


Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, as well as a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent criminal activities within the region.


Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.


The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
