Governor Fubara Dissolves Cabinet, Appoints New Chief Press Secretary
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the dismissal of all Special Advisers. The decision, which was made public through a special Government Announcement on Thursday, February 12, also included the appointment of Onwuka Nzeshi as the new Chief Press Secretary. This follows the removal of the former Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, though no reasons were provided for his dismissal.
The governor directed all commissioners and special advisers to immediately hand over their duties to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries.
The statement further expressed Governor Fubara’s gratitude to the outgoing members of the Executive Council and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Following the dissolution, the governor is expected to submit a new list of commissioner nominees to the Martin Amaewhule-led House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
