VIGILANTE COMMANDER SHOT DEAD IN KOGI

Reports indicate that a Vigilante Commander, Alhassan Alhassan, was on Tuesday shot dead by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in a forest in Tanahu community, Gegu-Beki chiefdom in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State.


The incident occurred around 11.25am on Tuesday.


Eons Intelligence gathered that the deceased led his team into a forest to engage a group of suspected kidnappers who have been unleashing mayhem on residents of Aduho and Tanahu communities in the area.


Upon sighting the security personnel, the kidnappers ambushed them, and shot the Vigilante commander, who died instantly. Other members of the Vigilante group engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle that lasted some hours but the attackers fled with gunshot wounds.


The remains of the slain commander had been conveyed to his Toto home in Nasarawa State and buried according to Islamic rites.
