268 NIGERIANS EVACUATED FROM CHINA

268 Nigerians have been evacuated from China.

They arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, this afternoon.

The 268 evacuees have immediately gone into the 14-day mandatory isolation at the isolation centre in Abuja.

This was disclosed by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, on her official twitter handle.

Reports indicate that some of the Nigerians were subject of racist discrimination from Provincial officials in Guangzhou, China.

They were reportedly evicted from their apartments and hotels following their refusal to go for the mandatory quarantine imposed by the Guangdong Provincial authorities after the outbreak of coronavirus.

A video of a Nigerian woman with her two children who were sleeping on the streets trended on the social media space.

But the Chinese Government said free hotel accommodations were provided for 207 Nigerians.
